In the last days of May 2019, employees of the Federal Center for Animal Health, whose activities are within the competence of the Rosselkhoznadzor, shared information about the complaint received from Adygea.
Representatives of agriculture in the Maikop district of the Republic of Adygea provided researchers with biological material for a thorough analysis to identify possible dangerous viruses.
It is reported that part of the femur belonging to the wild boar from Adygea was provided as samples. When scientists analyzed the biomaterial in the laboratory using the PCR technique, it turned out that the wild boar died as a result of the aggressive exposure to the African swine fever virus on its body.
The detection of the infected animal occurred directly in the Maykop region, after which the samples taken from the dead carcass were sent for preliminary investigation to the Kropotkinskoy Veterinary Laboratory, located in the Krasnodar Territory.
When the “diagnosis” of Kropotkin experts was confirmed at the Federal Center for Animal Health, the authorities of the republic, together with leading livestock breeders, began to search for solutions to the problem of a serious epizootic threat.
