This year, the volume of the crop of cucumbers and tomatoes, which are grown on the territory of the Russian Federation in conditions of closed ground, will be significantly higher than last year's figures.
These forecasts were shared by experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, suggesting a yield increase of thirty-five percent compared to 2018. In other words, the result of the yield of 2019 will be about one million four hundred thousand tons of these vegetables.
Following the information shared by representatives of the Federal State Statistics Service, last year the total harvest of greenhouse vegetables from all over Russia amounted to one million tons. It is noteworthy that this indicator was a record for the previous ten years. And this year, development of new crop heights is expected.
It is important to add that in the period from 2014 to 2018, at least 1,500 greenhouse complexes were erected or reconstructed in the country, which today can be described as high-tech.
Taking into account the fact that new and modernized greenhouses are much more effective for growing vegetable and salad crops, the production rate of the industry has grown since 2014 by more than sixty-five percent.
Given the high yields, market analysts suggest that until the end of this year, the price of greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes will remain at the same level as now, during the period of active ripening and abundance.
