As a result of the conflict over the lease of land shares in the villages of Grushevtsy, Babin and Nagoryany, Kelmenetsky district, Chernivtsi region, the director of the Babinsky agricultural cooperative died.
For more than eight years, in three villages of the Kelmenetsky district, a dispute over land took place. After the collective farm stopped functioning, the peasants decided to work the field together. To do this, they created a cooperative called "Babinsky."
2010 brought the sad news: part of the Babinsky premises was in the possession of the Kelmens Agro company. For eight years, the Kelmens Agro company has been constantly changing managers and owners.Since mid-October last year, the leadership was headed by German citizen Michael Matthias Heinrich.
The incident happened last week when workers at Kelmensy Agro tried to plow the sown field of the Babinsky cooperative with tractors. Then the peasants blocked the sown wheat field, creating a live shield. Tractor drivers abandoned the original plan. Seeing this, the head of the Kelmens Agro himself got behind the wheel of the tractor. During the confrontation, the director of the cooperative was not on the field. He arrived later when the wheat was already partially plowed. Upon learning of the incident, director Mikhail Baranchuk at the age of 58, suddenly felt bad. Doctors could not save the man’s life, and he died.Currently, investigators from the Kelmenetsky district of the National Police are investigating the conflict on the appeal of both parties concerned, the press service of the National Police Department in the Chernivtsi region reports.Share
