Agrarians of the Timashevsky district of the Krasnodar Territory reached the finish line in a kind of marathon for harvesting hay alfalfa. Such information was shared by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
According to experienced farmers and pastoralists, alfalfa, which belongs to the legume plants, is one of the most favorite treats in cattle. And it is not in vain that it makes up the lion's share of the diet of Kuban cows.
It is known that harvesting alfalfa is not an easy process, but it is a very interesting cycle. For example, collecting alfalfa, the combine immediately mixes this plant with elements of a special sourdough. Then this unusual mix gets into a hole in the ground, which is covered with a film.
After a few weeks, the fermentation process turns the starter alfalfa into an unusually nutritious feed supplement for cows, which is twenty percent protein.
One kilogram of such an additive in a serving of cow's food allows the animal to add at least seven hundred grams of weight. Alfalfa feed also affects the productivity of cows - they can produce about twenty liters of milk per day.
Kuban farmers intend to procure about two and a half tons of various feed this season. If the plan is implemented, the region will be able to cover not only the needs of its farms, but also “share” with neighboring regions.
