This year, gardeners of the Kherson region may not count several tons of fruit and berries.
In 2019, after spring frosts, the ovaries of fruit trees were damaged by strong winds and hail.
In particular, such weather events were observed in Aleshkovsky, Belozersky, Berislavsky, Golopristansky and Kakhovsky districts of Kherson region.
According to relevant experts, due to the vagaries of the weather, the region may lose from 1/4 to 1/5 of the total harvest of cherries, cherries, apples, apricots and peaches. This means that gardeners do not account for a significant portion of the profits.
Last year, Kherson gardeners successfully sent their products for sale in 11 countries, including the European Union. EU countries received 6.6 thousand tons of fresh Kherson apples.
But gardeners of the region express confidence that the current problems are temporary. They continue to lay more and more berry plants and orchards. In recent years, the area of apple orchards in the region has increased to 2.7 thousand ha, and cherry - up to 1 thousand ha. It is reported by the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Kherson Regional State Administration.
Earlier it was reported that this year, gardeners of the region will not be able to get an apple crop at the level of 2018, when 123 c / ha were harvested. Apple trees this year will regain their strength after a record fruiting in 2018.
