Last 2018, Ukraine acquired mushrooms and truffles from foreign countries with a total mass of 237 tons and a cost of almost $ 300 thousand, the State Fiscal Service shares the information received.
The figures obtained by the customs service indicate that last year 237 tons of mushrooms and truffles were delivered to the territory of Ukraine, cooked or preserved without the addition of vinegar. The cost of purchased products amounted to $ 286 thousand, say employees of the SFS of Ukraine.
For information, truffle is the most expensive mushroom in the world. So, a rare white truffle growing only in Piedmont (Italy) is sold at a price of € 4,500 / kg.
In nature, there are about 40 species of truffle, but only 5-6 of them are edible. Contrary to stereotype, all types of truffle can be cultivated, except for white. In the century before last, whole truffle groves were planted in France, having discovered that the roots of some oaks are especially liked by this mushroom.
Truffle is appreciated for its exquisite aroma and special taste, combining the flavors of nuts and well-roasted seeds. In France, they say that truffle loves simplicity, so they don’t expose it to high temperatures, but rub it on the finished dish. So the mushroom fully reveals its taste.
