The other day in the French capital came to an end the so-called "Sheep Tour".
It is reported that for twelve days a whole flock of sheep and rams walked through the territory of Paris under the control of two skilled shepherds. And I must say that the “curly” walk was not aimless: the animals plucked grass, thereby leveling the city lawns and areas with shrubs.
It is known that these "tours" were organized by the Paris authorities with the support of the public organization "City Shepherds". The purpose of such an unusual action was to prove the obvious benefits of sheep in urban environments.
It should be noted that the concept of keeping sheep in large cities implies the creation of micro farms that will allow the market to produce locally produced meat and wool at an affordable price. In addition, sheep are able to become participants in the process of improving the infrastructure of the city by trimming plants on Parisian lawns, in squares and park areas.
The Sheep Tour was intended to be extra evidence that sheep are excellent helpers in caring for urban vegetation. As part of the tour, animals covered about one hundred and forty kilometers.
The start of the sheep movement took place in the vicinity of Paris - in the town of Saint-Saint-Denis. Well-fed and tired sheep finished in the Paris Trocadero park, near the Eiffel Tower.
Two shepherds were helped to monitor the progress of the sheep by volunteers and law enforcement officials. Together, they did not allow the sheep to fight off the flocks and move harmoniously at pedestrian crossings and on roadsides.
