An unusual referendum will be held in Switzerland in the near future - local residents will decide whether to allocate money to support farmers who do not trim their goats and cows' horns.
The fact is that the cow plays an important role in the culture of Switzerland - this animal is the national symbol of the country. And three quarters of Swiss cows are hornless.
Armin Kapaul is a Swiss farmer with many years of experience. He is 66 years old, and he is convinced that the horns of the cows must not be cut off. The question excited Armin so much that he managed to get a special referendum.
“Horns are the honor of cows,” Kapaul said. - Moreover, they help animals communicate and regulate body temperature. In no case do you need to cut them off. Also because hornless cows are kept in tight stalls. And for animals with horns, a wider area is required, respectively, more space for movement and a comfortable existence. "
Armin is convinced that farmers who do not trim their cows' horns deserve special subsidies. Subsidies of $ 190 per cow will be quite enough, according to Kapaul.

“Cows with horns are proud, with their heads held high. You can admire them for a long time, says Armin. “The cows with which the horns were seized are sad and depressed!”
According to experts, today it is difficult to anticipate the results of the referendum, which will be held in Switzerland on November 25. After all, not everyone supports Kapaul and traditionally remove the horns with red-hot iron to the calves, previously calmed with sedative drugs.
“This is a painful process for a cow,” some farmers say. - But necessary so that animals do not injure their own kind and people! By humanity, we equate this process with castration of cats or dogs. ”
If we talk about the opinion of the country's government about the upcoming referendum, then the Swiss authorities consider subsidizing farmers with horned cows an unjustified waste.
