The Golden Berry Raspberry and Blueberry Farm in He set up a farm on the grounds of an abandoned and overgrown garden that the locals used as a landfill.
To start his own business, Boris Kukunin from the regional center of the Monastery ceased successful woodworking production.
It is noteworthy that the goal of creating a berry was not only profit. The novice entrepreneur sought to be useful to his native city and to help compatriots with work.
The newly made farm on the site of the old garden did not arise immediately. At first, the farmer developed 5 hectares of contaminated land on the outskirts of the city. And now, Boris Kukunin’s plantations of berries are located on 18 hectares of land. Raspberries occupy a large area of farmland, blueberries grow on another 2 hectares.
Boris Kukunin annually collects about 80 tons of berries from his plantations. He plans that by 2021 the area under plantations will increase to 40 hectares, so that 150 residents of the monastery will receive new jobs.
Earlier it was reported that another abandoned garden in the Cherkasy region gained a second life. This spring, local farmers laid a pear orchard in the village of Moysevka, Drabovsky district, Cherkasy region. Previously, there was 500 hectares of garden on this site, which in 20 years has turned into dense thickets.
