In the first seven months of this year, over one hundred twenty-two thousand tons of fish and seafood harvested by the forces of Murmansk fishermen were sent to the foreign market.
It is known that representatives of the coastal fish processing sector of the Murmansk region, in collaboration with workers of fishing vessels, sent the lion's share of their products (seventy-seven thousand or eighty-two percent of the total catch) to the market of states that are part of the European Union.
The rest of the “harvest” of fish and seafood, caught from January 1 to August 1, 2019, was shipped to buyers from the People's Republic of China, the United States of America, Japan and Nigeria.
Representatives of the public relations department of the Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service in the Murmansk Region shared this information with the public.
Also, the Rosselkhoznadzor stressed that the most popular among foreign buyers of Murmansk fish and seafood are such items as haddock, crabs, perch and halibut, as well as shrimp and frozen cod fillet.
It will not be amiss to add that in most cases, cod and haddock fillets are sent immediately from the fishing areas in the Barents Sea to buyers of the foreign market.
