In the first three months of 2019, Ukraine exported 12.8 thousand tons of honey, which is 26 more than in the same period of 2018, the State Statistics Service of the country reports.
In monetary terms, the export of sweet products amounted to $ 23.7 million, while in January-March 2018, honey was sold at $ 22.8 million, which is 4% more. The main countries that bought Ukrainian honey were Germany (29%), Belgium (18.3%) and Poland (12.5%), which held the same positions last year.
In addition to exports, Ukraine significantly increased the import of honey. In the first quarter of this year, the country purchased 21 tons of honey abroad - the same amount as it imported for the whole of 2018. It should be noted that this year the imported product became 35% cheaper and amounted to $ 41 thousand. In 2018, honey import cost Ukraine $ 63 thousandAll honey that was purchased abroad was provided by Germany. Earlier it was reported that a mobile apiary appeared in the Vinnitsa region. The beekeeper Alexander Dovgalyuk made a mobile apiary.
Previously, he had to transport bees with beehives in a truck to “graze” them in good melliferous areas. Now the beekeeper does not need transport. He carries his wards himself, and they "graze" in the best meadows of the region.
