Analysts of the agro-industrial complex of the Russian Federation came to the conclusion that last year in the expanses of the Nizhny Novgorod region the number of individuals of goats and sheep significantly increased. Such information was shared by experts on the pages of the Internet portal of Nizhny Novgorodstat.
In particular, it is reported that the number of sheep has increased by more than three thousand: if at the end of 2017 there were seventy-two thousand sheep at the agricultural enterprises of the region, then at the end of 2018 the flock “recovered” to more than seventy-five thousand animals.
If we talk about the situation with goats, then at the end of 2017, about ninety-six thousand of them were registered in the Nizhny Novgorod expanses. During the year there were more horned, and the number of livestock exceeded one hundred and eleven and a half thousand goats.
As for the horse stock, there has also been a growth trend, albeit insignificant: since the end of 2017, when the number of horses totaled fifty-five thousand animals, the number of individuals has increased to fifty and a half thousand.
But the number of pigs in the Nizhny Novgorod region last year lost ground: there were about eighteen and a half thousand pigs, and more than ten and a half individuals.
And here it will not be out of place to note that the ranks of pigs have considerably thinned out due to the frequent outbreaks of African swine fever in the region (about one hundred and sixty five individuals and over five hundred and sixty kilograms of pork were withdrawn from circulation). The number of cattle also decreased: in the last days of 2017 there were thirteen thousand, and a year later it became twelve thousand.
